Is there a free plan, or do I need to pay from day one?
There is no free plan, but all three paid tiers come with a 14-day free trial when installing for the first time. Plans start at $29/month (Essential), $69/month (Standard), and $129/month (Complete). All plans are available for free on Shopify development and sandbox stores.
How many customer groups / pricing tiers can I create?
The number of customer groups (tags) depends on your plan: the Essential plan supports 1 customer group, the Standard plan supports up to 10, and the Complete plan supports unlimited customer groups. All plans include unlimited quantity breaks regardless of tier.
Can I do this without a developer, or is setup complicated?
The app includes an in-app onboarding guide and an auto-setup tool that configures settings for your theme automatically. However, if you use a theme other than Shopify's Horizon, you may need to adjust CSS query selectors manually, and Bold's Customer Success team can help if the auto-setup doesn't work correctly for your theme.
Will this app slow down my store?
Some merchants have reported store slowdowns after installing the app, and it does not currently hold Shopify's 'Built for Shopify' badge. The app does include a configurable network-call delay slider in settings that can reduce browser load and improve page speeds, but results may vary by theme.
Does it work with my existing theme and other apps?
The app uses an app-embed installation and works with most themes, though non-Horizon themes may require manual CSS adjustments. There is a documented list of third-party app conflicts, and some integrations (such as side carts, dynamic checkout buttons, and certain currency converters) may have limitations or require additional configuration.
Does it work for international or multi-currency stores?
Currency converter compatibility is limited: converters may work with the Variant Dependent (V1) or Standard (V2) discount methods but are not compatible with the Accelerated Method (V3). On the Standard method, currency conversion may display on the storefront but will revert to the store's default currency at checkout. The Standard and Complete plans also support auto-tagging customers by country for region-specific pricing.
