Frequently asked questions
Is there a free plan, or do I have to pay from day one?
Rewind Backups has no free plan — paid plans start at $19/month (up to 300 orders/month) for Backup + Restore, and $99/month for the Protection Suite. Both plans include a 7-day free trial so you can evaluate the app before being charged. All plans are billed month-to-month with no long-term contract required.
What exactly does Rewind back up — and what does it NOT cover?
Rewind backs up products and variants, themes, collections, customers, orders, pages, blog posts, metafields, metaobjects, and Klaviyo/Mailchimp data. However, due to Shopify API limitations, it cannot back up or restore product inventory quantities, product reviews (stored in separate apps), store settings, staff permissions, or credit card information. It's a comprehensive but not 100% complete backup.
Will Rewind slow down my storefront or affect my customers' shopping experience?
Rewind operates entirely server-side via the Shopify API and does not inject any code into your storefront. Because backups are read-only and run in the background, there is no impact on your store's page speed or customer-facing performance.
How does restore actually work — can I restore just one product without rolling back my whole store?
Yes — Rewind supports both granular and bulk restores. You can restore a single item (e.g., one product, one page) to a specific previous version, restore an entire item type (e.g., all customers), or roll back your full store to a prior point in time via Advanced Restore. Restores are always manual and never triggered automatically.
Does Rewind integrate with tools I already use, like Klaviyo?
Yes. Rewind Backups natively integrates with Klaviyo and Mailchimp (included on paid plans), and also works with Confluence, GitHub, Trello, QuickBooks Online, and monday.com. Klaviyo and Mailchimp backup coverage is listed as a feature on the Backup + Restore plan.
What do other merchants say about the support team?
Support is consistently praised in reviews — merchants highlight fast response times, knowledgeable staff, and proactive assistance for issues like plan selection, billing questions, and data restoration. Rewind offers live chat and email support seven days a week, with on-call data restoration specialists based in EST and PST. A small number of negative reviews cite delayed responses, though Rewind publicly replies to most complaints.
What happens to my backup data if I uninstall Rewind?
Rewind stores your backup data in their own secure Rewind Vault, separate from your Shopify store. If you cancel your subscription, you will lose access to your stored backups — so it's important to export or request any critical data before cancelling. Rewind's privacy policy governs data retention post-cancellation; contacting support at help@rewind.com before uninstalling is recommended.
