Frequently asked questions

Is this app actually free, or will I end up paying once I start using it?

The app itself is free to install and use on any Shopify plan. However, if you run ad campaigns, you set your own budget and the ad spend is billed directly to your Facebook ad account — there are no platform fees from the app itself.

Does my store actually qualify to use this — are there eligibility requirements I need to meet first?

Yes, several requirements must be met. You need a published Facebook Page, a Meta Business Portfolio, and an Instagram professional account (business or creator). Your products must be available for direct purchase from a verified domain, your store cannot be password-protected, and your business must be located in one of Meta's supported countries. Meta also requires your account to demonstrate an "authentic, established presence," which may include a sufficient follower base.

How does product syncing work — will my inventory and prices stay accurate on Facebook and Instagram automatically?

Yes. The app automatically syncs your Shopify product catalog — including images, prices, inventory levels, and descriptions — to both Facebook and Instagram shops in real time. Any changes made in your Shopify admin are reflected across both platforms. Note that collections only sync to Facebook for stores based in the United States; merchants in other countries must manage collections through Facebook Commerce Manager.

Where does checkout actually happen — inside Facebook/Instagram or on my Shopify store?

As of August 26, 2025, Meta no longer handles native in-app checkout. Customers are now redirected from Facebook or Instagram to your Shopify online store to complete their purchase. This also means you are now responsible for collecting and remitting sales tax on these orders — Meta is no longer acting as a marketplace tax facilitator.

Will setting up the Meta Pixel through this app cause duplicate tracking or mess up my ad data?

It can if you're not careful. If you've previously added a Meta pixel manually to your theme code, or use a third-party tracking app, running the app's pixel alongside those will cause duplicate events — inflating conversion counts and making ROAS unreliable. You should remove any manually added pixel code from your theme.liquid file before enabling data sharing through this app, and avoid running multiple pixel tools simultaneously.

What do other merchants say about the support experience when something goes wrong?

Merchant reviews are mixed, with the app sitting at 3.5 out of 5 stars from nearly 3,900 reviews. While Meta officially offers email and live chat support, a recurring theme in negative reviews is merchants being bounced between Shopify and Meta support without resolution — especially around connection errors, pixel setup failures, and account restrictions. Some merchants report issues going unresolved for days or weeks.

Does this app work for non-US stores, and is it available in languages other than English?

The app supports 21 languages including German, French, Spanish, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Chinese (Simplified and Traditional). However, some features are limited by geography — for example, product collections only sync automatically for US-based stores, and shop availability depends on Meta's supported country list for Shops on Facebook and Instagram.
